MFCClassSettlement.com is the official website of the proposed Settlement on the Class Action Lawsuit entitled The Music Force, LLC., et al. v. Black Entertainment Television, LLC, et al.
Case No. 09-CV-00376 (GBD). It is in this website where you can find the MFC Class Settlement Claim Form.
The Class Action Lawsuit was filed January 14, 2009 and was answered by the Defendants March 26, 2009. According to the complaint, Black Entertainment Television, LLC (BET) committed copyright infringement through the unauthorized production, distribution, and airings of sound recordings or musical compositions owned by the Plaintiffs. The alleged copyright infringement by BET was said to have caused damage to the Plaintiffs or Class Members. BET denied any liability to the complaints but has nonetheless agreed to a Settlement.
Class Members are given three options: 1.) remain a part of the Settlement Classes, 2.) object to the Settlement, and 3.) be excluded from the Settlement. Those who remain in the Settlement Classes are required to submit a Proof of Claim Form, mailed not later than October 19, 2011. Those who want to object are required to submit their requests until July 1, 2011. Those who want to be excluded from the Settlement must write a letter of request and must have submitted it not later than June 6, 2011. Class Members may attend a Fairness Hearing to be held on July 21, 2011.
