HPEliteDesktopSettlement.com is the Settlement website of the HP Pavilion Elite Desktop Class Action lawsuit. The case is entitled Kent v. Hewlett Packard Company, Case No. C 09-05341 JF.
The Settlement was given preliminary approval by the Court on April 15, 2011. It covers individuals who purchased, acquired, received as gift, or leased any of these HP Pavilion desktop computer models anywhere in the United States: e9280f, e9290f, e9280t, m9650f, e9180t, e9150t, m9600t, and e9180f. The Settlement is under the jurisdiction of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
The lawsuit states that the above-mentioned HP Pavilion desktop computer models are defective and that they are prone to experiencing certain problems or failures. The lawsuit claims that the systems of these models are prone to becoming unresponsive and locking up after 30 minutes of performing a cold boot. These allegations are strongly denied by HP. Nevertheless, HP has agreed to a Settlement to avoid incurring more expenses and to avoid the risks involved in the lawsuit.
